Description:

Initial Entry Scheme and Gap Year Programme at Bank of England

The Bank of England will shortly be accepting applications for the following schemes:

Initial Entry

If you have a strong academic record but have decided university is not for you, the Bank can offer excellent opportunities to start building a career through our Initial Entry Scheme.

Initial Entrants usually go into roles within Banking Services or Information Systems and Technology. Whichever area of the Bank you work in, you will be processing data whilst broadening your understanding of how the finance system operates. To succeed, you’ll need the ability to reach high levels of accuracy, even when working to tight deadlines.

Initial Entrants follow a formal development programme for the first two and a half years of their career in the Bank whilst also receiving on-the-job training.  There are also opportunities for Initial Entrants to study for additional qualifications relevant to their role and the Bank.

Gap Year – We have a programme specially designed for gap-year students looking for high-quality work experience before beginning university.  Placements are for a fixed period of 12 months with start dates in July and September 2010.  Roles will be similar to those described for the Initial Entry scheme.

To apply for the Initial Entry or Gap Year schemes students should be expecting to achieve at least 180 UCAS points from up to three A Levels or equivalent qualifications such as the International Baccalaureate or BTEC Nationals.

For further information and for details on how to apply, students should visit the Bank’s website www.bankofenglandjobs.co.uk.  We are now accepting applications for both schemes and the closing date for applications is 5.00 pm on Friday 26th February 2010.
