We’re the organisation that protects and improves the environment across England and Wales - it´s our job to protect and improve the air we breathe, the water we drink and the ground in which we grow our food. With 13,000 employees and a budget in excess of £1 billion, we work with industry, the public, farmers, community groups, local authorities and central government to ´create a better place´ for people and wildlife… for present and future generations.

Since 1996, we’ve managed a range of high-profile projects that have protected us from the rigours of our environment, and many others that have enhanced it. These include leading awareness campaigns to raise the profile of important environmental issues and advising on what needs to be done. We’re also environmental regulators in areas such as waste disposal and nuclear safety, are responsible for regulating various types of businesses and have managed everything from river stocks to conservation sites. Plus, we’re at the forefront of helping to manage the risk of flooding – one of the biggest environmental challenges we currently face.
Just like the environment, our organisation is extremely diverse and we’re keen to attract people from all walks of life to work with us. So here you’ll find leading scientists, PR specialists, geologists, planners, industry regulators, policy advisors, enforcement officers, HR professionals, conservation experts, customer service advisors, graduates, engineers and many more. Join us and you could help us meet some of the most challenging environmental issues that we face today.
As well as undertaking work in these key areas, we aim to create a great work/life balance. Whatever your role, we’ll give you all the training and support you need to succeed in your job. We have flexible working arrangements too, which are in place to ensure that you can work around external commitments when necessary. We also offer a range of excellent benefits too including generous holidays and final salary pension.
